Why you still HAVE fat & can’t lose weight

Updated: Feb 25, 2019

One of my moto’s in my fitness business is, “healthy curves come in all shapes and sizes.”

“It’s refreshing to have some time off from wondering whether I look fat.” Pamela Druckerman

I always say you HAVE fat but you are NOT fat! And one of the top reasons women can’t get rid of fat and lose weight is because of Metabolic Issues. The female metabolism is unique and diets and exercises that work for men usually don’t work for us. Most research pertaining to fitness, health & weight are done with 20 year old male subjects and a few young fit female athletes…but what about new moms? What about high-level career women under tons of stress? How about women in their 30’s and 40’s that are experiencing a slower metabolism? And, what about the women currently in menopause or past menopause? ALL of these metabolic triggers make a difference in how women lose weight. Our age, reproductive cycle, hormone type and stress levels play a huge part in our weight loss. And for women more exercise is usually not the answer BUT more movement is. I’m a part-time fitness coach (yes I have MANY lanes! LOL) and with my clients we “get fit where it fits in” ™ and to live your life cycling back and forth between; eating less and exercise more or eating more and exercising less. When we constantly stay at eating less and exercise more we actually train our metabolism to get fat to keep us from starving to death. Dr. Jade Teta states, “Modern day research has now proven that dieting for long periods of time, using the EAT LESS & EXERCISE MORE (ELEM) approach (ELEM, may be one of the primary causes of getting fat. The metabolism sees the wide gap of energy intake compared to output and decides that it better make adjustments for the future and push the energy gap back the other way to just as extreme an extent….It registers all of this as a stress and thinks you are starving…EAT LESS & EXERCISE LESS (ELEL) is a lot like Europeans of the last century. They ate just a little, they moved a lot, and they exercised sparingly if at all. This is a very relaxed, non-stressful, and healthy lifestyle.”
