Are you feeling the workout burnout?
The land of burnout is not a place I ever want to go back to. -Arianna Huffington
Let's Talk About Workouts!
Specifically, the workout burnout.
You've committed to working out, everything is going great and you are motivated and excited to get your sweat on.
And then something happens and you realize getting in your workout isn't at the top of your priorities anymore. Maybe you even find yourself making excuses that you don't have time to fit your workout into your daily schedule.
You've hit the workout burnout slump and often when you get sucked into this mindset, it feels like there's no end in sight.
It doesn't have to be that way! You can get back into the workout rhythm and actually enjoy getting in a good + effective workout.
#1 PAY ATTENTION TO YOUR BODY
It's important to pay attention and recognize the signs your body is giving you.
Feeling overly tired and exhausted, both physically and mentally? Maybe it's time to take a rest day.
It's important for you to be open and receptive to what your body needs and the signs it is showing you.
We're all different, so do what works best for you and you will be more likely to workout.
#2 TRY SOMETHING NEW OR SWITCH UP YOUR ROUTINE
Do you ever get bored eating the same meal day after day? Sure!
The same thing happens with our workouts. Don't be afraid to try something new! I always change up the workouts to keep them exciting and fun. On days you don't workout with me go for a hike, head to a spin class, do some yoga!
#3 STOP FOCUSING ON THE NUMBERS
It's often easy to get so focused on the numbers, that we no longer enjoy the act of moving our bodies and working out.
Yes, we often have measurable goals set for ourselves, but it's also important to look at the big picture as a whole...how are you FEELING? Do you find yourself having more energy? How are your clothes fitting?
When you begin to focus more on how you feel and less on the number showing on the scale, you will be more likely to enjoy your workouts and stick to your routine.
#4 FIND ACCOUNTABILITY + A SUPPORTIVE COMMUNITY
Ever start a new workout program alone where you don't have a partner, spouse, mom, friend, sister, or coworker also joining you and helping you to stay accountable?
It's not easy doing this alone. And the best part? You DON'T have to!!!
That's why I'm here! As your coach I will check-in with you, cheer you on, tell you some truth when you need to hear it, this is by far one of the most important tips to avoid the workout burnout stage.
#5 REMEMBER THIS IS A PRACTICE
When starting a program, please know this is practice! It takes time to learn the moves and it takes time to become comfortable with the exercises.
Do not get frustrated if you're simply not there or if you need to modify. Don't compare your day 1 or week 2 to someone else's year 5.
But it is important that you are committing to this practice and working out regularly if you want to see progress.
It's important not to get frustrated if you can't do the push-ups. Instead, commit to the practice and you WILL get it!
If you're ready to avoid the workout burnout or maybe you've hit the slump now, I'm here for you...programs, accountability, support, and so much more! Book your session today!
